Cyclists ready to ride the lights

SKY RIDE have helped organise this year's 'Ride the Lights' event, taking place on Blackpool's coastline on 31st August.

AS PART of the preparations for this year’s switch-on, the promenade will be closed for road users on the night of 31st August – including bus and horse-cart; that is unless you happen to be on a bike.

Whilst the minimum requirement is that your bike has both a front and back light, in a tradition on years gone by, cyclists will glitz up their mode of transport in a similar fashion to the illuminations themselves, with lights and reflectors aplenty.

Whilst Robbie Williams will do the honours of flicking the switch on Friday 3rd September, Ride the Lights will give pedestrians and cyclists a sneak preview of this year’s show. New features for 2010 include the ‘Glampires’ overhead display and the ‘Dino Doom!’ illuminated murale show.
